Using the LPS HeadsUp Text Notification System

The LPS HeadsUp Text Notification System allows LPS staff an easy way to notify groups of students, staff or other interested individuals without the potential hazards of having student phone numbers on personal devices while also establishing a log of all communication passed through it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Creating a List

  1. Login to HeadsUp (LPS Keyword “HeadsUp”) by clicking on ‘Staff Login’ at the bottom of the page
  2. Click “Create a new list”
  3. Give your list a name (up to 100 characters)

Your list will now appear on your lists page.

Have Others Subscribe to Your List

To have people subscribe to your list:

  1. Take note of the join words provided for your new list
  2. Share your potential message recipients the “join words” for your list
  3. The recipient then goes to LPS keyword “headsup” where they will enter their phone number, carrier and the join words you provided
  4. They will be asked for a verification code which will arrive on their device
  5. Once they enter the code, their subscription will be confirmed and they will now receive your broadcasts

Sending to a List

  1. Login to HeadsUp (LPS Keyword “HeadsUp”) by clicking on ‘Staff Login’ at the bottom of the page
  2. Click on the title of the list you wish to send a text message to
  3. You will see recent messages that have been sent to this list
  4. Type a message to send  (text notification length limit is 160 characters)

Unsubscribing from a List

  1. Person wishing to unsubscribe should visit LPS Keyword “HeadsUp” and enter their number, carrier and your list’s Join Words (just like if they were subscribing)
  2. HeadsUp will recognize that this person is already subscribed and ask if they’d like to unsubscribe
  3. If they click “Unsubscribe” they will be removed from your list
