LPS Families: Important End of the Year Information

Lincoln Public School Families,

Below is important end-of-the-year information that will assist us with closing out the school year.  Based on the current health directives in place for Lincoln, we’ve had to make some tough decisions and find solutions to the many challenges that come with retrieving and returning items while keeping the health and safety of our staff and families as one of our top priorities.

Last day of course work

Elementary School

Video lessons have already been created and will be aired through May 21. Students are welcome to continue communicating with their teachers through the last week of school, but nothing will be required between May 18-21. The last official day of school is Thursday, May 21.

Middle and High School

The last day for new material will be Friday, May 15. Students will still be able to turn in school work and communicate with their teachers through the last week of school, but nothing new will be assigned after May 15. The last official day of school is Thursday, May 21.

Students retrieving belongings

Due to the current health directives put into place, we have made the difficult decision to only allow students in grades 5, 8 and 12 to retrieve their belongings by using a drive-up system.

  • High school seniors will also be returning their Chromebooks and other school-owned items during their scheduled pickup times.
  • Students in grades 5 and 8 will keep their Chromebooks and return them next fall. They will return textbooks, library books and school issued music instruments when they retrieve their items from school.
  • Students in grade 5 will retrieve their items from school on May 20 between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. More information will be coming from your school.
  • Exceptions will be made for families leaving the school district, students who are switching schools next year or other unique circumstances.

Be watching your email next week for school specific schedules and information on how to make arrangements if needed.

We understand this plan for keeping our families and staff safe may be disappointing for some of our students and families. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are doing our best to follow the current health directives put into place at the time these decisions were made to help keep our families and staff healthy and prevent further spread of COVID-19.

Please continue to watch your emails for more information as we approach the end of May.
