  • Monitor the Nebraska legislature by being at the State Capitol whenever the body is in session.<\/li>
  • Solicit ideas from Lincoln Public Schools staff for potential legislative changes in state statute.<\/li>
  • Prepare draft legislation for approval by the Board of Education.
    \u2022 Solicit a senator to sponsor legislation and work with that office\u2019s staff concerning amendments that may be necessary.<\/li>
  • Monitor all legislation that may impact the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li>
  • Attend all session hearings and interim hearings on legislation that may impact the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li>
  • Serve as the governmental relations liaison to the Governor\u2019s office.<\/li>
  • Serve as the governmental relations liaison to the State Department of Education, Nebraska Association of School Administrators, the Nebraska Association of School Boards, and other community organizations.<\/li>
  • Monitor federal legislation which may impact the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li>
  • Work with the staffs of U.S. congressional delegations to support or defeat legislation impacting the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li>
  • Serve as the liaison to the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. for the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    • Represent the Lincoln Public Schools at community-sponsored functions dealing with governmental relations.<\/li>
    • Coordinate the activities of the non-staff lobbyists for the Lincoln Public Schools.<\/li>
    • Prepare an analysis of all bills potentially impacting Lincoln Public Schools and report at each board meeting during the legislative session on the progress of the bills through the legislative process.<\/li>
    • Prepare standing positions of the board for submission to the Nebraska Association of School Boards.<\/li>
    • Prepare appropriate reports for the State Accountability Commission.<\/li>
    • Serve as a resource for Lincoln Public Schools staff on questions concerning state statutes or working legislation.<\/li>
    • Attend the meetings of the Finance and Accountability Commissions and other committees which have as their primary responsibility addressing legislation impacting education.<\/li>
    • Serve as staff to the Governmental Relations Subcommittee of the Board of Education.<\/li>
