The award recognizes Way for her work as adviser for the school\u2019s FCCLA chapter. FCCLA helps students grow as leaders and address personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education. Way received her award last summer at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<h2>Explanation<\/h2>\n<p>The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America student organization honored Tracy Way of Lincoln Southwest High School with the 2018 Spirit of Advising Award for Nebraska. Way is a family and consumer sciences teacher and the school\u2019s FCCLA chapter adviser.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen Vest of the Nebraska Department of Education said this about Way:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Spirit of Advising Award recognizes a chapter adviser who is constantly faithful, often working quietly behind the scenes to ensure the success of their students. This year\u2019s award winner is definitely one such adviser. Her passion to help every student succeed is evident in the classroom and in her chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Proposal<\/h2>\n<p>That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS, Tracy Way has been honored by the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America with the 2018 Spirit of Advising Award for Nebraska; and<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS, Tracy Way is recognized both in Nebraska and nationwide as a faithful advocate for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization; and<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS, Tracy Way has served in numerous leadership positions with this organization, including as chair of the state\u2019s board of directors; and<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS, Tracy Way, in addition to her leadership positions, remains dedicated to students in her role as chapter adviser at Lincoln Southwest High School; and<\/p>\n<p>WHEREAS, Tracy Way has guided students to both state and national honors in her role as chapter adviser.<\/p>\n<p>NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education<br \/>\ndoes hereby congratulate Tracy Way for winning the 2018 Spirit of Advising Award for Nebraska from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background Tracy Way, a family and consumer sciences teacher at Lincoln Southwest High School, was recently honored with Nebraska\u2019s 2018 Spirit of Advising Award from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America student organization.
