Becky Coatney, food service manager at Rousseau Elementary School, was recently honored as the 2017-18 Nebraska Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association. The School Nutrition Association is a national organization representing more than 58,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country. The Manager of the Year award honors members based on four categories: cafeteria environment; management and staff development; involvement with the School Nutrition Association; and school and community outreach.<\/span><\/p>\n The School Nutrition Association has named Becky Coatney as Nebraska Manager of the Year for 2017-18. <\/span><\/p>\n Edith Zumwalt, director of Nutrition Services for Lincoln Public Schools, said the following about Coatney:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBecky has a love for teaching children about nutrition and good eating habits.\u00a0She plans amazing events, such as the School Breakfast Week promotion.\u00a0Becky deserves this award because of her positive, can-do attitude.\u00a0She finds creative ways to decorate the cafeteria and plans events that are fun for the children.\u00a0Becky gives 100 percent to do what is best for the students she provides meals to every day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n WHEREAS, Becky Coatney has been named Nebraska Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association; and <\/span><\/p>\n WHEREAS, Becky Coatney has created a warm and welcoming cafeteria environment at Rousseau Elementary School; and <\/span><\/p>\n WHEREAS, Becky Coatney has served as a valued mentor for many members of her staff; and<\/span><\/p>\n WHEREAS, Becky Coatney is an active member of Rousseau Elementary School\u2019s wellness team and has helped implement a program that provides snacks to students during assessment testing; and<\/span><\/p>\n WHEREAS, Becky Coatney is active on both the state and national levels and has served in leadership positions in the area of school nutrition.<\/span><\/p>\n NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education<\/span><\/p>\n does hereby congratulate Becky Coatney for being named 2017-18 Nebraska Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Background Becky Coatney, food service manager at Rousseau Elementary School, was recently honored as the 2017-18 Nebraska Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association.
