(Belong, Excel, Study and Travel) Awards by the Nebraska Department of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Background<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Nebraska Department of Education recently honored ten Lincoln Public Schools business teachers with B.E.S.T. (Belong, Excel, Study and Travel) Awards. The award recognizes <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">involvement in professional associations, community and school activities, professional leadership development and service to the business education profession, as well as their dedication to students, community outreach and continual classroom improvement efforts. The honored teachers were: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lori Anderson-Stowe, Lincoln East High School; Jocelyn Crabtree, Lincoln Northeast High School; Jodi Gehr, Lincoln Southeast High School; Julie Hippen, Lincoln Public Schools; Matt Maw, Lincoln East High School; Kim Pickering, Lincoln High School; Shannon Quible, Lincoln North Star High School; Jessica Thompson, Lincoln Southeast High School; Lindsay Tillinghast, Lincoln Southeast High School; and Deb Wolken, Lincoln Northeast High School.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Explanation<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Nebraska Department of Education honored ten Lincoln Public Schools business teachers with B.E.S.T. (Belong, Excel, Study and Travel) Awards. The teachers received their awards this summer at the Nebraska Career Education Conference. The honored teachers represent five LPS high schools, as well as LPS District Office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lincoln Public Schools Curriculum Specialist for Career and Technical Education Cynthia Baum said this about the honored teachers:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Proposal<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHEREAS, Ten Lincoln Public Schools business teachers have been honored with B.E.S.T. Awards by the Nebraska Department of Education; and <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHEREAS, These teachers have demonstrated a passion for business education; and <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHEREAS, These teachers are leaders in the area of business education and held in high regard by their peers across the state; and<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHEREAS, These teachers have proven to be excellent advocates for business education both inside and outside the classroom; and<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHEREAS, These teachers are continuously striving to teach business education in new and exciting ways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">does hereby congratulate Camelle Kinney for being named a Teacher of the Year Merit Finalist by the American Association of Family &amp; Consumer Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background The Nebraska Department of Education recently honored ten Lincoln Public Schools business teachers with B.E.S.T.
