The Nebraska Music Education Association (NMEA) named Zeman Elementary School teacher Megan O\u2019Brien the 2018 Outstanding Young Music Educator. The NMEA <\/span>represents all phases of music education in Nebraska schools, colleges and universities, with more than 1,200 members from across the state. The Outstanding Young Music Educator award recognizes excellence in music education by someone who has taught for between three and seven years.<\/span><\/p>\n The Nebraska Music Education Association named Megan O\u2019Brien the 2018 Outstanding Young Music Educator. <\/span><\/p>\n Lance Nielsen, supervisor of music for Lincoln Public Schools, said the following about O\u2019Brien:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen you walk in to her classroom, you will observe excellence in teaching. She designs lessons with clear learning objectives that engage all students, regardless of their ability level. You also see active music-making by all students with support systems for them to succeed. You can\u2019t help but leave her classroom smiling \u2013 she brings happiness to the classroom and the students love her.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n One of her students said this about O\u2019Brien:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMiss O\u2019Brien makes learning fun and gives chances for all grades to have concerts. After each one she congratulates us for the hard effort we put in.
