The award is in its inaugural year and recognizes outstanding work in the school library field. The award\u2019s criteria are based on an individual\u2019s demonstrated creativity and innovation in the profession through instructional opportunities and programming.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42822ce elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"42822ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Explanation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a27eae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9a27eae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Sara Friest from Lincoln Southeast High School has been named the 2021 Nebraska School Librarian of the Year by the Nebraska School Librarians Association.<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201cFriest was nominated by Joy Harvey and Emily Jacobs from the Lincoln Public Schools Library Services Department. In their nominations, they said that Friest \u201chas worked hard to make the library an inclusive and fun place for all students.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Mandy Peterson from the Nebraska School Librarians Association had this to say when announcing the honor:<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201cSara is a tremendous example of a modern school librarian and the value school librarians bring to the table. It is evident from the time I was able to spend with her, her coworkers and her students in the school library that she is doing great things. We are wildly proud of her.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4cef202 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4cef202\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Proposal<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46e7d42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"46e7d42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Sara Friest has been named the 2021 Nebraska School Librarian of the Year by the Nebraska School Librarians Association; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Sara Friest has demonstrated creativity and innovation as a school librarian; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Sara Friest strives to make the library an inclusive space for all students; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Sara Friest collaborates with her colleagues to nurture a sense of community at Southeast High School; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Sara Friest is a prime example of how vital libraries are to a student\u2019s learning experience.<\/p><p>NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Sara Friest for being named the 2021 Nebraska School Librarian of the Year by the Nebraska School Librarians Association.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background The Nebraska School Librarians Association has named Sara Friest from Lincoln Southeast High School the 2021 Nebraska School Librarian of the Year.
