The mission of the Nebraska School Counselor Association is to represent school counselors and to promote professionalism and ethical practices.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42822ce elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"42822ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Explanation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a27eae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9a27eae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Nebraska School Counselor Association named Marilynn Peaslee from Lincoln Northeast High School the 2021 Nebraska School Counselor of the Year.<\/p><p>Her colleague Malinda Jean Baptiste had this to say about Peaslee in her nomination letter:<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201cMarilynn is the embodiment of a school counselor. She is always willing to set aside a task at hand to work with a student, always putting people before paper. Marilynn strives to know each of her students well and to find ways to push each one to achieve at their highest potential. I also appreciate how she encourages the members of her team. She is the encouraging word on a hard day, an engaged listener as you process a situation, a knowledgeable resource on ideas of things to try with a student, and a huge advocate of the role of school counselor as both a proactive educator and a reactive support for students.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4cef202 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4cef202\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Proposal<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46e7d42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"46e7d42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:<\/p><p>WHEREAS, the Nebraska School Counselor Association named Marilynn Peaslee from Lincoln Northeast High School the 2021 Nebraska School Counselor of the Year; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Marilynn Peaslee is always willing to put aside her task at hand to help a student; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Marilynn Peaslee is a compassionate and admired colleague among her team members at Northeast High School; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Marilynn Peaslee has been a leader in establishing the Northeast High School counseling center as a positive resource for students, staff and families; and<\/p><p>WHEREAS, Marilynn Peaslee is a strong advocate for using data to make important decisions at Northeast High School;<\/p><p>NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Marilynn Peaslee for being named the 2021 Nebraska School Counselor of the Year by the Nebraska School Counselor Association.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background The Nebraska School Counselor Association named Marilynn Peaslee from Lincoln Northeast High School the 2021 Nebraska School Counselor of the Year.
