The award honors someone who exemplifies high school journalism advising in Nebraska. Characteristics considered include years of service, publications advised, awards or honors earned, and ways they have positively influenced their students or their programs. Her true success lies not in the honors and trophies bestowed, but in the lives changed. Many students over the years have had their passion for journalism ignited in her class and whether they go on to a career in journalism or simply enter the world with the tools to examine issues from different perspectives, the world is better for it.
