href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/jqYNRtvY4g9QavjK9\">Student Research Approval Request form<\/a>. (Note: if the student is working with a university researcher who already has IRB approval from their institution, there is no need to fill out the form unless the research involves gathering data from students or staff in LPS).\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-710080d elementor-view-stacked elementor-position-left elementor-shape-circle elementor-mobile-position-top elementor-vertical-align-top elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-box\" data-id=\"710080d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-wrapper\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<span  class=\"elementor-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-users-class\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-content\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-icon-box-title\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span  >\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStep Five\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-icon-box-description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe LPS research review team (Assessment\/Evaluation office) reviews these requests as soon as possible. \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9fcf20 elementor-view-stacked elementor-position-left elementor-shape-circle elementor-mobile-position-top elementor-vertical-align-top elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-box\" data-id=\"e9fcf20\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-wrapper\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<span  class=\"elementor-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"far fa-users\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-content\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-icon-box-title\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span  >\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStep Six\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-icon-box-description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Research that involves human participants is reviewed based on these criteria:<\/p>\n<ol  type=\"a\"><li>Research that involves questions about the following areas requires a signed <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/152nK2d65DopNFd1HondWcBBDqz_woRNiVi6iWldIDho\/view\">consent letter from parents<\/a>, in addition to student assent:<ul>\n<li>Political affiliation or beliefs of the student or the student\u2019s parent<\/li>\n<li>mental and psychological problems potentially embarrassing to the student or the student\u2019s family<\/li>\n<li>Sex behavior and attitudes<\/li>\n<li>Illegal, anti-social, self incriminating, or demeaning behavior<\/li>\n<li>critical appraisals of other individuals with whom the student has close family relationships<\/li>\n<li>legally recognized privileged or analogous relationships, such as those of lawyers, physicians, and ministers<\/li>\n<li>religious practices, affiliations or beliefs of the student or the student\u2019s parent income\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\n<li>All research requests need assent for human participants (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/152nK2d65DopNFd1HondWcBBDqz_woRNiVi6iWldIDho\/edit#bookmark=id.f73dv6qadsu8\">Sample paragraph for the top of surveys<\/a>). If students fill out the survey, they are giving their assent.\n<\/li>\n<li>Surveys can only be distributed  within the student\u2019s program or home school - no \u201cfull district\u201d surveys.
