You can download them to your computer ahead of time if needed.
EXTENSIONS: For each section of this video series listed below you will find discussion questions, suggested activities, and other extension items that will assist you in guiding teachers through a staff development session on the ideas presented in the videos.

Topic 1: Chrome Culture
Extension Activities:
- Take the time to sign into your Google Account through Chrome browser.
- If you have bookmarks in other browsers on your computer, import them.
- Launch an “incognito window” to see what it looks like.
Topic 2: Getting More out of the Chrome Browser
Extension Activities:
- Practice with the new shortcuts you’ve learned.
- New Tab:
- Command ⌘ + T (Mac)
- Ctrl + T (Win)
- Close Tabs:
- Command ⌘ + W (Mac)
- Ctrl + W (Win)
- Reopen a Closed Tab:
- Command ⌘ + Shift + T (Mac)
- Ctrl + Shift + T (Win)
- Switch Tabs:
- [RIGHT] Control + Tab
- [LEFT] Control + Shift + Tab
- New Tab:
- Take some time to play with the Omnibar. If you already know about the things we talked about, investigate the “Google Knowledge Graph” and see what it does, or what the latest additions are.
- Set up a set of tabs to launch at startup.
Topic 3: Chromebooks
Extension Activities:
- Take a few minutes to discuss what your building’s current thinking is around encouraging students to ALWAYS use the bags, to come to school with laptops fully charged, attaining access to the kiosk laptops if their laptop is not charged when they come to class, where students will take broken laptops, and other logistical situations you might predict.
- Many people have had experiences with Chromebooks. Ask if anyone in the room has used one, and what their impressions were.
Topic 4: Chrome OS
Extension Activities:
- The teacher laptop has the Chrome Browser installed. Launch it and go to the View menu, selecting Full Screen. Your teacher laptop now looks a lot like Chrome OS, minus the desktop. Practice walking through an activity without leaving the web browser. This is how Students will experience the web.
Topic 5: Digital Classroom Management
Extension Activities:
- You will have a number of opportunities to take staff development sessions on Google Classroom and Hapara in upcoming weeks and months. Discuss the dates and times you know these sessions are happening and when you plan to take advantage of one of these opportunities.
- Do a YouTube search for Hapara and/or Google Classroom and watch some videos where teachers discuss their use of the tools.
