Required District Flexible Contractual Professional Development
Certificated staff is expected to take sessions that are required by curriculum specialists, directors, and program administrators for their district flexible contractual professional development. Below is a list of the required sessions. Even if there are no required sessions in a specific area, there will be a variety of sessions offered in that area and teachers may choose from those sessions or from the general district sessions that are available to complete their 7 hours of flextime. Some areas require teachers to choose options from their specific area. If teachers do not go to required sessions, they will not be compensated for their time. If you have questions about what is required, please contact the appropriate person who is in charge of your area. All flextime must be completed by March 10, 2017. Certificated staff will be compensated for their district flextime on Monday, March 13, 2017.
K-5 classroom teachers:
Elementary Classroom Teachers (K-2):
1.75 hours required flex session: K-2 Accelerating Students Through Guided Reading. Teachers may select any of the following sessions to meet the required flex requirement:
1.75 hours- Required “Growing Up Wild” by the end of October
1.75 hours- Required Reading Like a Historian (new teachers only).
Elementary Classroom Teachers (Grade 3-5):
1.75 hours required flex session: Effective Literacy Instruction Enhanced By Technology. Teachers may select the Level 101 session or the Advanced session.
3.5 hours- Required Science Implementation by the end of August
1.75 hours-Second Steps for Grade 3 Teachers (Grade 3 teachers only)
1.75 hours- Required Reading Like a Historian (new Grade 4-5 teachers only).
6th Grade Flex Requirements
5.25 Hours Total Required Flex in Language Arts.
1.75 Hours: Conversations on Trending Issues in 6th Grade Language ArtS
All Reading Recovery teachers need to do 3.5 hours flex in the area of Reading Recovery
