Mathematics Curriculum

Kindergarten, Unit 2

In this unit, students continue their study of numbers from 1–10 and simple shapes. They build on their knowledge of numbers 1–10 to understand the numbers 6–10 as composed of a 5-group and some ones and by counting a nickel and pennies. Students explore number order, ordinal numbers, 1 more and 1 less relationships, and partners for the numbers 1–10. Students learn and use the attributes of triangles and hexagons. They also work with growing and shrinking patterns.
