Personnel

Although the ELL program is often associated with federal programs due to administrative links, it is actually funded by the Lincoln Public Schools general fund. The ELL office is located at LPSDO 436-1998. Sue Roosmann is the elementary ELL coordinator with Cindy West 436-1993 as secondary ELL Coordinator.

Expectations for teachers

Program leadership and ELL teachers at all levels may be helpful in facilitating resource information about many cultures and languages within the community. Any student with suspected limited English proficiency must be referred to the ELL program for assessment.

Programs and services

Services provided assist students with limited English skills to function in the regular English-speaking classroom, to develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening in English, and to develop knowledge about the customs and culture of the school, community and nation.

ELL classrooms are located at the following schools: Arnold, Belmont, Clinton, Elliott, Everett, Meadow Lane, Hawthorne, Holmes, Roper, West Lincoln and Zeman Elementary Schools, Culler, Goodrich, Park and Lefler Middle Schools, and Lincoln High, East, North Star and Northeast High Schools.
