Gratitude to the 2014–2015 LPS Community Curriculum Council

Parent Group_040615The Lincoln Public Schools Community Curriculum Council serves as a channel for direct communication between parent and community groups – and instructional leadership in our school district.

Each school’s parent group, community organization or advisory committee appoints one or more representatives to theCouncil.

The functions of the Community Curriculum Council include hearing about topics of interest, looking at current issues and trends in education on a local and national level, and providing feedback on current decisions or district initiatives.

The Council holds four to six meetings during the school year. Some meetings are devoted to general problem identification sessions, others to reports and discussions of designated topics. Meetings are chaired by Jane Stavem, associate superintendent for Instruction at LPS. Some of the topics this year included: the LPS School Calendar, ParentVUE, Synergy, Standardized Testing and State Assessments, Yankee Hill and Expelled Program, Lancaster County Youth Services, Federal Programs Transitions, World of Curriculum, What is a Charter? What is a Voucher? – just to name a few.

This group plays an important role in connecting with people across our school district, and we are grateful that so many citizens are willing to commit their time and service to our school district.
